Travel in Goa After COVID-19 (January, 2021)
I’ve been getting a lot of queries about Goa’s tourism. During my Mumbai to Goa Road Trip, I decided to observe the environment in Goa after COVID-19 and write it down for readers.
Goa has been one of the most loved travel destinations of India. Numerous beaches and nightlife of Goa has attracted a big number of Indian Youth as well as foreign tourists. COVID has totally shut everthing for almost a year in our country and abroad and Goa was highly affected as its economy relies highly on tourism. Goa announced the reopening of borders for domestic tourism in July 2020.
Initially there were several clauses and conditions put on to the visitors to ensure maximum safety of the state and its people and to responsibly handle the situation. At current, there are no strict clauses for tourists. You don’t need to carry your COVID report.
The only thing you need to care about is that you don’t take off mask when in Public, you may get photographed and then you have to pay the fine. Locals of the cities has spoken about violence of Social Distancing by the tourists. So, make sure that you don’t disappoint locals and be a responsible tourist.
Though the number of cases are slowing down, Goa still has the highest death rate per million in India. So, this is quite concerning for the locals and this is why the locals of Goa are concerned about further spread of Coronavirus in the city.
In November 2020, It was observed that Hotels, Resorts, and Villas are getting 74% higher bookings as compared to October 2020. This was a surprising number reasons being drop in ticket prices on Mumbai to Goa route. This data was shared by Ixigo which is an online booking website. Along with Ixigo, Goa emerged as the hot destination on various portals like EaseMyTrip and more.
People from Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Pune, Mumbai, Karnataka, and more are heading towards Goa for vacations near diwali time and a lot of people also came-in for staycations with family and friends as now you can work and study remotely.
